Considering Buying- What do you think?
My bother has a 2000 Boxster.
Great shape, 135k miles. he owes 10k on the car and he wants to get rid of it.
He's never been behind on reg. maintenance, and he's never had any major repairs / problems.
(He's just replaced the driver's seat and Top because he said they looked "used".)
I'm considering buying it. I have the cash and I love the car but, I've never owned such a nice car before.
I've tried to do my research, kbb.com, motortrend.com , and I've read 'reviews' online of the year and read Q and A for related info.. all I've come up with is " repairs are expensive!!"
I think 10k may be a little high, and I might be able to talk him down to 9k but, I adore the car and it brings back memories of my 1972 MG Midget I had in High School, I'm having a hard time being objective about it.
Right now i'm in a 2000 volvo. going to a porsche would be a big upgrade.
(I'm 25, married no accidents / tickets so insurance won't a problem. )
I'm hoping any of you car guys can give me an idea of what I would be getting into. Thanks!

Also, I forgot to mention, I am aware of the " IMS failure " risk.
from what I understand, the risk can be lessened by " religious maintenance and using higher viscosity oil.
but, If it does go out- it's a 12k - 15k repair.
is it still worth it?
