Default Engine air filter

I have a 2003 Boxster. I am trying to change the engine air filter for the first time. I have read other posts to follow the correct steps. When I removed the top carpet cover though, there is a wiring harness attached, must be for a cooling fan. Can this be unplugged so I can get the cover out of the way? Is there anything similar on the lower carpet cover?
Thank you,
Joel

It is the wiring harness for your speaker box. Just unplug it and set it aside.

Which end does it unplug from?I tried to follow either end to look for a junction but was unable to locate anything.
Thanks for your help.

It is right in the middle, about 4 inches off the passenger side of the box. Look down by the conv. top mechanism. Black plug.

I think the Porsche Service Schedule recommends its done on the Major Service or every 2 years. Regards Big Bob

I recommend changing filters every 15k miles. This includes the air filter, and pollen filter.
