Tiptronic Question

RE: Tiptronic Question
Hi, Jimmie325, yes I am a Chinese American, I moved form Hong Kong to USA 20 years ago. I don't pay much attention of the octane, I just get whatever available in my area, the highest octane. I have a questin about the Tip. Hope you or someone can help me out.
Last week, while I was driving on full auto, I accidently hit the button on the steering wheel, and I down shift the car, for example, I was on 5th gear, when I tap the button the on the "-", it wil change to 4th gear. The indicated light on the dash board move from "auto" to "Manual", after about 5 second, if I don't change gear manually again, it will go back to full auto. Is that normal? All this time when I drive, I only use the buttons on the steering wheel when I are driving in full manual mold.

RE: Tiptronic Question
Hi Tinchao. Thanks for answering my question from the other thread.
Yes, this is normal. You can manually adjust your gears anytime and if you are in auto mode and if you don't have any manual changes, it will go back to auto mode in I do think 5 seconds.
Its funny, I am chinese too, and I am from Hong Kong as well, and have been here just about 20 years, but I am in LA. haha, small world.
Nice silver boxster also. I am waiting my cayman out til the next revision, which probably should be an 09 model next year. Definitely going for the S model and hopefully the engine will be updated for that as well.

RE: Tiptronic Question
Hi, guys! I just wanted to thank you all for all your help with my questions. I ended up getting an SLK350 (only because I was offered a deal I couldn't refuse), but I'm sure I will be back to hunting down a Boxster S some time in the near future (especially if they put the DSG transmission on it!). Wishing you all a great summer! Thank you so much once again!
cheers,
