If your having trouble locating 0-40W you could always purchase the product from any Amsoil Dealer. Amsoil make a specific blend for European Car standards. No I'm not an Amoil dealer, but a satified customer for the last 10 years.

Default 0w-40 Reasonable Prices

I saw at Park Place Porsche (Dallas TX) and
local Walmart 0w-40 for less than $6 per qt.
Not too bad.

Most auto parts stores can get 0w-40 within a day (usually the larger stores stock it). Our local Oreilly Auto Parts keeps it in stock for us.

Default Solution for Stripped Torx Bit?

I went to local Sears and only a few choices to remove the seat mounting
bolts. One of these bolts (inside star pattern 12 pt?) came out without a
fuss. The other will not come out using the same torx bit from sears. Any-
one with a solution? Should I look for a larger torx bit? I have some
Crescent wrenchs but the bolt is slightly under the floor next to seat
so it is hard to get any suitable grip around the outside of the bolt.
Thank you for your help!

I used a regular Torx bit (8mm) and both came right off. You may need to get an extension or longer wrench to break the torque.

By the way, I filled 8.5 qt of oil and it is slightly past the Max (by half inch)on the dipstick. Is there any risk to that???

Default Cayenne Oil Change and more

I'd like to do work myself and this is my first Porsche too.

I'm attatching some photos for some who plans to do this the first time.
You need to take out the bottom "shield" then it's like a normal car!

BTW, has any one done the Transfer Box & Differentials oil change? What kind of oil should I use? I don't want to go to the dealer to pay 5 times more than i have to.

1. Remove the front 2 belly pans on the Cayenne. Held in place by 8mm, 10mm bolts (head size), and 4 phillips screws. Set aside. The front pan covers the front drain plug and the filter, and the rear pan covers the rear drain plug.

2. There are 2 drain plugs, a lower (towards the front of the engine pan) and an upper (towards the rear of the pan). They are 8mm "Torx Plus" bits (This is a fairly new bit, it looks like an Allen, but with convex sides). Remove to drain. The drain plugs use crush seals, so make sure to install new crush seals on the plugs.

3. Remove the filter, which is at the very front of the engine, can't miss it. Black canister, with a paper filter inside. OC128 is the Mahle filter number. Replace filter and rubber O ring on the canister.

4. 8.5-9 quarts of Mobil 1 0w-40 oil to fill. Put in 8.5, start engine, let run for a few minutes. Shut off, let oil drain back to the bottom of the engine for about 2 minutes. Check oil with dipstick with the engine off. Add as necessary.

5. Replace belly pans.
Very good procedure
Good look.. Doron
