For Sale: 1996 3.6 Varioram 911 engine
The ultimate of Porsche’s air-cooled flat 6 engines.
Very fresh! Purchased from 911 Design in 2003 as a low miles (32,000 mi) for mockup and possible use in tube frame race car design. Never run since. Frame design project complete, so engine no longer needed.
Very desirable – road or track - conversion of hydraulic-to-mechanical rockers
Very desirable – road or track - conversion to adjustable cam timing
New head gaskets. Heads freshly refurbished by AASCO w/new guides and valve stem seals.
New Nikasil coating and honing of #6 cylinder by US Plating (rings had stuck to barrel from disuse, all other barrels very good – see photos). New rings on #6 - Goetze
Brain reprogrammed (has to be done to disable “theft” code once out of car), a $1000-$1500 upgrade. All freshening work just painstakingly completed by trained Porsche tech with photo documentation.
